Supplemental description by Barnes Foundation (© - Barnes Foundation - Barnes Foundation)
This painting is a scaled-down version of an enormous canvas—over 14 × 7 feet—that Puvis de Chavannes painted as part of a cycle of nine murals for the Boston Public Library. The series, the French artist's first and only commission in the United States, represents the spheres of human knowledge contained in the library's holdings. Here we see the Greek playwright Aeschylus reading the text of his tragedy Prometheus Bound while the climactic scene from the play unfolds behind him.

- Printed poster (canvas material): The Artprinta poster is a printed sheet of flat canvas with a slight finish on the surface. A poster print is designed for putting your art print with a custom-made frame. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin between 2 - 6cm round about the painting, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
- The canvas print: A UV printed canvas mounted on a wood frame. Hanging your canvas print: Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which implies that it is easy and straightforward to hang the Canvas print without the support of any wall-mounts. Therefore, canvas prints are suited for all types of walls.
- Metal (aluminium dibond print): This is a metal print manufactured on aluminium dibond with an outstanding depth - for a modern look and non-reflective surface.
- The acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): The print on acrylic glass, often referenced as a print on plexiglass, will turn an original into wall décor. The artwork is being printed with the help of state-of-the-art UV direct print technology. With an acrylic glass art print contrasts and smaller image details become more exposed because of the fine gradation of the picture.
