We can see the bottom, from left to right, the Hotel Dieu, the palace of the Archbishop, Notre Dame, the Pont de la Tournelle, and the houses of the quay of Orleans, on the Ile Saint-Louis.
The first wine market was built in 1644 at the corner of the Quai Saint-Bernard and the Rue des Fosses-Saint-Bernard. Napoleon decided to replace it in the same place, for a new building more important, the first stone was laid August 15, 1811.
