Chase and his wife, Alice, had eight children, all of whom appeared in the artist's portraits and figure studies. This portrait is of Roland Dana Chase (1901–1980), the Chases' youngest son. Writing in "Harper's Weekly" in 1901, a critic applauded: "Witness the portrait of 'Roland,' who is depicted with splendid brush-work as a rollicking brown rogue, holding in his admirable baby hand the only note of color—a red ball."

Legal note: We try the best we can to depict the products as exact as we can and to illustrate them visually in our shop. Although, the tone of the printed materials, as well as the print result can diverge slightly from the presentation on the device's monitor. Depending on your settings of your screen and the condition of the surface, color pigments might not be printed as realistically as the digital version. Because the art reproductions are printed and processed manually, there might also be slight differences in the size and exact position of the motif.
