About the painting created by the old master Gerard de Lairesse

In the year 1678 Gerard de Lairesse created this painting with the title "Bacchus and Ariadne". The more than 340 years old original measures the size: height: 175,2 cm width: 92,5 cm | height: 69 in width: 36,4 in and was painted with the medium oil on canvas. Moreover, the artwork has the following creditline: Soestdijk Palace, after 1674-1799; Nationale Konst-Gallery, The Hague, 1800-1805; transferred, 1822; on loan to the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, since 2012. In addition to this, the alignment is in portrait format and has a ratio of 1 : 2, which means that the length is 50% shorter than the width. Gerard de Lairesse was a male engraver, painter, art historian, decorator of Dutch nationality, whose style can be classified as Baroque. The Dutch artist lived for a total of 70 years and was born in 1641 in Liege, Liege province, Wallonia, Belgium and passed away in the year 1711 in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands.
