The lost Son. The story of the Prodigal Son, depicted in four scenes in one painting. Left takes the son leave his father behind him drinking with a woman at a table outside a tavern. Right of it is to see the son as a swineherd and the far right of the return of the son, welcomed by the father and the slaughter of the fatted calf. The painting is part of a series of parables painted for the Lutheran church in Leiden (see also Nos. A-SK-2959 and SK-A-2960).
This painting was painted by the male Dutch painter Barent Fabritius. What is more, the piece of art can be viewed in in the Rijksmuseum's collection, which is the largest museum for Dutch art and history from the Middle Ages to the present day. The painter Barent Fabritius was an artist, whose art style can be attributed mainly to Baroque. The Dutch artist was born in the year 1624 and deceased at the age of 49 in the year 1673.
