Franz Anton Maulbertsch, 1759 - Presentation in Temple - fine art print

Form and technique of this painting suggest that this is likely is a design for a ceiling fresco although execution has not been demonstrated so far. The presentation is that point in Luke's Gospel (Lk 2.22 to 38), where reports of the Presentation in the Temple, and already see the high priest Simeon and the prophetess Hannah, the old in the eight days the child the Savior. In the center of the high priest is with the baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph kneeling in front of it. To the left of Simeon is the prophetess who has the verdant stick of Joseph, which is presented to her by an angel. The "offering" is stylistically the frescoes in Sümeg near and is therefore attributable Maulbertsch. Background information on the art product

The 18th century artwork titled "Presentation in Temple" was created by Franz Anton Maulbertsch in 1759. The masterpiece was painted with the size: 51,5 x 72 cm - frame dimensions: 68,5 x 88 x 7 cm and was painted with the medium oil on canvas. Nowadays, this artpiece is included in the digital collection of Belvedere, which is located in Vienna, Austria. With courtesy of - © Belvedere, Vienna, inventory number: 2062 (public domain). Furthermore, the work of art has the following creditline: purchase from auction house Schidlof, Vienna in 1920. Besides this, the alignment of the digital reproduction is landscape and has a side ratio of 1.4 : 1, which implies that the length is 40% longer than the width. Franz Anton Maulbertsch was a painter, whose art style was primarily Baroque. The Baroque painter lived for a total of 72 years and was born in the year 1724 in Langenargen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany and died in the year 1796.
