The playwright Thomas Corneille (1625-1709) is represented in the waist, the bust of three quarters and head turned towards the viewer. The old man is wearing a brocade coat, which fell his long white hair. A white frill was tied around his neck.

Like his older brother Pierre Corneille (1606-1684), Thomas wrote for the theater. Completely forgotten today, some of his tragedies experienced some success in their creation.
