Fragment of Panorama Century illustrating the main events and characters of the 19th century, this painting depicts a fictional collection of 14 French painters, most landscapers. They are represented back to the Seine, near the Ile de la Cite, with the right to the Institut de France and the Pont des Arts.
The Panorama of the history of the century, created for the 1889 Universal Exhibition was displayed in a rotunda at the Tuileries for seven years. The fabric was then cut into about sixty pieces and shared among the shareholders of the Company of history of the century created for its realization.
