English: The young Isabella Romola de’ Medici lived in 16th-century Italy. She was the daughter of the mighty duke Cosimo de’ Medici, at whose court the artist Agnolo Bronzino was employed by the family and made countless paintings and portraits of its members. Isabella de’ Medici was depicted many times, as a child, as a young lady and as a grown woman. He never had the opportunity, however, to paint her in her old age, because she died young at the hands of her jealous husband. According to legend, Isabella still haunts the place where she was killed, in Villa de Cerrata Guidi outside Florence.
