Georg Granitsch (1833-1903) was a politician and journalist, since 1868 a member of the Lower Austrian parliament and since 1873 also the Reich Council.

In 1877 the German artist Hans Canon created the 19th century work of art titled "The Imperial Council deputy Georg Granitsch". The beyond 140 year old original had the following size: 71 x 58 cm - frame dimensions: 108 x 92 x 11 cm. Oil on canvas was applied by the European painter as the technique for the masterpiece. The artpiece has the following text as inscrption: "signed and Dated left lateral .: CANON. 1877th". It is included in the Belvedere's art collection located in Vienna, Austria. We are pleased to reference that the public domain artwork is being included with courtesy of © Belvedere, Vienna, inventory number: 3328. In addition to that, the artpiece has the following creditline: purchase from Susanne Granitsch, Vienna in 1935. Besides, the alignment is portrait and has a side ratio of 1 : 1.2, meaning that the length is 20% shorter than the width. Hans Canon was a artist of German nationality, whose style can primarily be assigned to Historicism. The Historicist artist lived for a total of 56 years - born in the year 1829 in Vienna and passed away in the year 1885 in Vienna.
