The 19th century piece of art was created by the realist master Robert Russ in the year 1877. The artpiece had the dimensions: 133 x 200 cm - frame: 150,5 × 217 × 6 cm. Oil on canvas was used by the artist as the technique for the masterpiece. Signed lower right: Robert Russ is the painting's original inscription. This work of art is included in the Belvedere's digital collection, which is located in Vienna, Austria. With courtesy of: © Belvedere, Vienna, inventory number: 5836 (license - public domain). Creditline of the artwork: re-inventory in 1968. Besides, the alignment is in landscape format and has an image ratio of 3 : 2, which means that the length is 50% longer than the width. Robert Russ was a male painter, whose artistic style was primarily Realism. The German artist lived for 75 years and was born in 1847 in Vienna and deceased in the year 1922.

1875 Russ was commissioned two murals for the Geological Institute of the new University of Vienna. Russ traveled in 1877 to Helgoland to prepare studies on site. Another great image from Helgoland was owned by Nikolaus Dumba.
