On one side of the Bosphorus, at sunrise, a group of men in colorful outfits is sitting under a pine tree. Later, other men in a skiff leave the shore. On the other side, the distance grows the city of Constantinople and the Hagia Sophia silhouette.

A great traveler, Felix Ziem stayed twice at Constantinople in June 1847 and for two months in 1856. The watercolors executed on the grounds will subsequently times in the workshop.
