This print reproduces a large painting by Daniel Maclise (1847-53, Leeds City Art Gallery). Noah stands at center next to a lamb on an altar, accompanied by family members and additional animals intended for sacrifice. In the background, the Ark rests on Mount Ararat as animals emerge from its open door, and a rainbow arches over the scene near heavenly beings. Noah's "Sacrificial Hymn" is printed below. While working on this painting, Maclise was commissioned to produce two large frescoes at the new Palace of Westminster devoted to British victories in the Napoleonic wars, and technical difficulties related to the unsuitability of that medium to the damp English climate occupied much of his time. "Noah's Sacrifice," as an oil on canvas, allowed the artist to work freely and demonstrate his skill with multi-figured compositions. Cheltenham's wood engraving was published in the "Illustrated London News" in December 1849, while Maclise was still at work, which may explain the schematic background.

Select your material
We offer a range of various materials and sizes for every product. The following sizes and materials are the options we offer you for individualization:
- Acrylic glass print: The print on acrylic glass, which is sometimes referenced as a UV print on plexiglass, changes the original artwork into lovely home décor. The great advantage of a plexiglass print is that sharp contrasts as well as details become visible thanks to the very subtle tonal gradation in the picture.
- Canvas print: A canvas print, not to be mistaken with an artwork painted on a canvas, is a digital image printed onto canvas. A canvas print has the advantage of being low in weight, meaning that it is easy and straightforward to hang the Canvas print without the support of extra wall-mounts. Because of thatcanvas prints are suitable for any type of wall.
- Aluminium dibond print (metal): Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with a true depth effect, which creates a fashionable impression throuch a surface structure, which is non-reflective. A direct Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is the excellent start to art reproductions with aluminum. For our Direct Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print your chosen artpiece right onto the aluminium surface. The bright & white parts of the original work of art shine with a silky gloss but without any glare.
- Poster (canvas material): A poster print is a printed canvas with a slight finish on the surface. Please note, that depending on the size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm around the artwork, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
