General description by Nationalmuseum Stockholm (© Copyright - by Nationalmuseum Stockholm - www.nationalmuseum.se)

English: The painting tells the story of how Queen Artemisia of Caria in Asia Minor supposedly ordered the building of the Mausolaeum at Halicarnassus in memory of her husband, Mausolus (352 B.C.). The Queen is said to have mixed Mausolus’ ashes with liquid, which she drank. She thus comes to symbolise a widow’s devotion. Vouet depicts the strongly idealised figures in a classical architectural setting, using Venetian colour and light. Form and content harmonise.

Pick a product material option

In the dropdown selection next to the product you can choose your prefered size and material. That is why, we allow you to choose among the following options:

  • Poster print (canvas material): Our poster is a printed flat cotton canvas paper with a fine finish on the surface. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin between 2-6cm around the print motif, which facilitates the framing.
  • The canvas print: The canvas direct print is a printed cotton canvas mounted on a wood stretcher. It creates the extra impression of three dimensionality. Furthermore, a printed canvas creates a cosy and comfy atmosphere. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy to hang your Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Hence, a canvas print is suitable for all types of walls.
  • The acrylic glass print: A glossy acrylic glass print, which is often referred to as a plexiglass print, changes an original artwork into stunning wall décor.
  • Metal (aluminium dibond print): Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with a true depth. For your Direct Aluminium Dibond print, we print the selected artpiece right onto the aluminium composite surface.
