One of twenty-two panels (14.114.1–.22) forming the ceiling from the Palace of Pandolfo Petrucci, called Il Magnifico, Siena. The general distribution and partition of the ceiling appears to derive from that of a vaulted and painted ceiling in Nero's Golden House in Rome. Many of the individual figures also seem to derive from antique works of art– especially sarcophagi.

The piece of art called "Hunt of the Calydonian Boar" was created by Pinturicchio in the year 1509. The more than 510 years old original measures the size: Overall: 24 7/8 × 40 7/8 in (63,2 × 103,8 cm) and was made with fresco, transferred to canvas and attached to wood panels. Further, the alignment is landscape with a side ratio of 3 : 2, which implies that the length is 50% longer than the width. The painter Pinturicchio was an artist, whose artistic style was primarily Early Renaissance. The Early Renaissance artist was born in 1454 and died at the age of 59 in the year 1513.
