Demachy exhibited at the Salon of 1777 a painting entitled "a saltpetre Workshop" (No. 70), we approached Carnavalet the table. However, the boards of the "Dictionary of Science" (Vol. VI, mineralogy) is refining saltpeter in a very different way. It was also suggested that it could be a mercury distillation workshop.

The 18th century artwork was painted by Pierre-Antoine Demachy. The 240 year old work of art measures the size: Height: 39 cm, Width: 31 cm. The original artwork has the following inscription: Signing of the running - Dated and signed lower right: "DEMACHY". On top of that, alignment is in portrait format with a side ratio of 1 : 1.2, meaning that the length is 20% shorter than the width.
