This modern art masterpiece was painted by the artist Jan Toorop in 1868. Nowadays, the artwork is included in the art collection of Rijksmuseum, which is the largest museum for Dutch art and history from the Middle Ages to the present day. The artist, painter, graphic artist, postage stamp designer Jan Toorop was a European artist from the Netherlands, whose art style was primarily Symbolism. The painter was born in 1858 in Purworejo, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia and died at the age of 70 in the year 1928 in Hague, The, South Holland, Netherlands.
