Together with Shepherd's Idyll, this painting was probably commissioned by Roslin d'Ivry for the Château d'Hénonville. At the end of his life Boucher painted numerous large decorative canvases, often culling motifs from other paintings and drawings. Several of the figures here seem to be based on Boucher's memory of earlier works.

The 250 years old piece of art had the dimensions: 95 x 93 in (241,3 x 236,2 cm) and was painted with oil on canvas. Further, the alignment of the digital reproduction is square with a ratio of 1 : 1, meaning that the length is equal to the width. The painter François Boucher was an artist from France, whose artistic style can mainly be assigned to Rococo. The French artist lived for 67 years and was born in 1703 and deceased in 1770 in Paris.
