Wheatley was among the best painters of the small-scale group portrait, or conversation piece, which is so typical of the mid-eighteenth-century English school. Here he shows a couple and their little girl, traditionally identified as members of the Saithwaite family. The lady's dress, with its elaborate starched white muslin trim, her puffy powdered hair, and her elaborate plumed hat indicate a date of about 1785. The red figured damask upholstery and the Turkey carpet are painted with attention to detail, but the pattern of the carpet is too steeply foreshortened and it seems to slope forward.

  • Poster (canvas material): Our poster print is a printed canvas with a fine texture on the surface. Please bear in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster print we add a white margin of around 2-6cm round about the painting, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Aluminium dibond print (metal): These are metal prints on aluminium dibond material with an impressive effect of depth - for a modern impression and non-reflective surface structure. The white & bright sections of the artpiece shimmer with a silky gloss but without the glow. Colors are bright and vivid, details are very clear, and you can really perceive the matte appearance of the fine art print. This print on Aluminum Dibond is one of the most demanded entry-level products and is an extremely stylish way to display fine art prints, as it draws attention on the replica of the artwork.
  • Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating on top): An acrylic glass print, often referred to as a an art print on plexiglass, will convert the artwork into great décor. In addition, the acrylic print forms a distinct alternative option to canvas and aluminidum dibond fine art prints. The major benefit of an acrylic glass art print is that contrasts and granular artwork details become identifiable due to the precise gradation in the print.
