In 1632 the Dutch artist Rembrandt van Rijn created this artpiece titled The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp. The beyond 380 years old original measures the size: height: 169,5 cm width: 216,5 cm | height: 66,7 in width: 85,2 in. Oil on canvas was used by the Dutch artist as the medium of the masterpiece. Signed and dated: Rembrant. fv: 1632 was the artwork's inscription. This piece of art belongs to the Mauritshuis's art collection. The creditline of the artwork is: Commissioned by members of the Surgeons’ Guild, Amsterdam, 1632; Surgeons’ Widows’ Fund, Amsterdam, 1798-1828; purchased by the Dutch State and placed in the Mauritshuis at the order of King William I, 1828. Further, the alignment of the digital reproduction is in landscape format with a side ratio of 4 : 3, meaning that the length is 33% longer than the width. Rembrandt van Rijn was a painter, whose art style can mainly be classified as Baroque. The Dutch artist lived for a total of 63 years, born in 1606 in Leiden and deceased in the year 1669 in Amsterdam.
