The sculptor Henri Allouard (1844-1929) poses in his studio. His chisel in hand, he works on a clay statuette sitting on a hot seat, representing a woman dancing in a half-naked. Motherhood can be distinguished in the background of the workshop in stone and the sketch of a monument. The model, wearing a shawl, pauses speaking to a man in a city suit, while a man sat listening shirtsleeves. The sculptor is represented in three-piece suit facing the viewer.
