The crowd massed on the sidewalks and boulevard Saint-Denis windows and boulevard Bonne Nouvelle acclaimed sovereigns and their suite: from left to right, Prince Schwarzenberg, generalissimo of the allied forces, representing the Emperor of Austria, Tsar Alexander I and King Frederick William III of Prussia. In the background, the Porte Saint-Denis and in the background the Saint-Martin.
The Battle of Paris (March 30, 1814) between the French army to the European allied forces against Napoleon, marked the end of military operations for the Campaign of France and led Napoleon's first abdication (April 6). A few days later (April 10), the Allied troops marched into Paris rather well received by the population of Paris, happy to finally seeing an end to the war.
