Represents the crowd marching past the house of Victor Hugo, 130, avenue d'Eylau and aclamant the poet at his window with his small child, during the party organized February 27, 1881 to celebrate the entry Victor Hugo in his eightieth year.

As one of the works commissioned by Pual Meurice for the creation of the museum, this painting was made as soon inaugural clash of the museum, in the hall of paintings from the first floor.
