Influenced by the English-born, Boston-based painter Robert Salmon, Lane, early in his career, painted the ports and shipping vessels of Boston; of his native Gloucester, Massachusetts; and, for a time in the early 1850s, of New York City. The clipper ship Golden State was built in New York in 1852 and, as its name suggests, plied the seas around Cape Horn to California when overland travel across the North American continent was still unreliable and before the opening of the Panama Canal in 1914 made it no longer necessary to take such an extensive southern detour. The skyline of New York, as seen from New Jersey, is delineated in the background.

This modern art piece of art was made by the male artist Fitz Henry Lane. The 160 year-old version of the masterpiece was painted with the dimensions: 26 x 48 in (66 x 122 cm) and was crafted with the technique of oil on canvas. The artpiece is part of the digital art collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is one of the world's largest and finest art museums, which includes more than two million works of art spanning five thousand years of world culture, from prehistory to the present and from every part of the globe.. Possible product material choices

In the dropdown lists right next to the product you can choose your favorite material and size. Thus, we allow you to choose among the following options:

  • The canvas print: A canvas print, not to be mistaken with a canvas painting, is a digital image applied on a cotton canvas fabric. It has a unique look of three dimensionality. Your printed canvas of your favorite work of art will give you the unique opportunity to turn your art print into a large size artpiece as you would see in a gallery. A canvas print has the advantage of being low in weight, meaning that it is quite simple to hang your Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Hence, canvas prints are suited for any type of wall.
  • Glossy acrylic glass print: A glossy acrylic glass print, which is often denoted as a print on plexiglass, makes the artwork into lovely décor and is a viable alternative option to canvas or dibond prints. The work of art is being printed with modern UV print technology. This creates the image effect of vivid, impressive colors. Our acrylic glass protects your chosen art print against sunlight and heat for many years to come.
  • The poster print on canvas material: The poster print is a printed canvas paper with a slightly rough surface structure. It is qualified for putting the fine art print with the help of a custom frame. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin of approximately 2-6 cm round about the print motif in order to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
  • Aluminium dibond (metal print): An Aluminium Dibond print is a print with an impressive depth effect. A direct Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is your excellent introduction to art reproductions with aluminum. For our Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print your chosen work of art onto the surface of the white-primed aluminum.
