Giovanni Battista Moroni, 1572 - Portrait of Vincenzo Guarignoni - fine art print

This more than 440 year-old painting was created by the male Italian painter Giovanni Battista Moroni. The masterpiece measures the size: Framed: 91 x 80 x 8 cm (35 13/16 x 31 1/2 x 3 1/8 in); Unframed: 63 x 50,8 cm (24 13/16 x 20 in). Oil on canvas was applied by the European artist as the medium of the piece of art. The artwork's inscription is: "inscribed at bottom: "VINCENT. GVARINON. AN. AET. XXXXV / MDLXXII"". Giovanni Battista Moroni was a male painter of Italian nationality, whose style can primarily be attributed to Mannerism. The artist was born in the year 1520 and deceased at the age of 58 in the year 1578.

The Latin inscription gives the sitter's name and age (45), as well as the painting's date. Guarignoni came from a prominent family in the northern Italian city of Bergamo. His direct and thoughtful gaze enhances the painting’s lifelike quality, while the solemn detachment conveys dignity and excellence rather than an exact personality, a common approach in Renaissance portraiture.
