The more than 380 year old original version was made with the size: Framed: 35 x 31 x 5 cm (13 3/4 x 12 3/16 x 1 15/16 in); Unframed: 16,3 x 12,1 cm (6 7/16 x 4 3/4 in) and was painted with the medium oil on wood. The artpiece has the following inscription: "signed left center: "GDov."; "[GD in monogram]"". What is more, the alignment is in portrait format with a ratio of 3 : 4, meaning that the length is 25% shorter than the width. Gerrit Dou was a painter from the Netherlands, whose style can be classified as Baroque. The Baroque artist was born in the year 1613 in Leyden, South Holland, Netherlands and died at the age of 62 in the year 1675.
