Artwork information from Art Institute Chicago (© - Art Institute Chicago - Art Institute Chicago)

An old woman riding a goat and brandishing a broomstick dominates this picture, which is an outstanding example of Cornelis Saftleven’s work in a traditional Netherlandish genre: scenes of hellfire and witchcraft. Pioneered by Hieronymous Bosch and given new life by Jan Brueghel and Jacques de Gheyn II a century later, such ghoulish subjects were aimed at an audience of sophisticated collectors. Paintings and drawings in this genre combine precise scientific observation—as here in the moth wings of the howling figure on the right—with a sense of powerful, uncontrolled natural forces.

Product materials you can choose

For every product we offer different materials and sizes. In order match your personal requirements perfectly, you can choose among the following product customization options:

  • The acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): A glossy acrylic glass print, often labelled as a UV print on plexiglass, will turn the original work of art into stunning décor and is a good alternative to canvas or aluminium dibond fine art replicas. The work of art is custom-made with the help of modern UV direct print machines. It makes vivid, sharp colors. The major benefit of a plexiglass art print is that contrasts and smaller artwork details become exposed because of the fine gradation of the print.
  • The canvas print: The canvas direct print is a printed cotton canvas mounted on a wood stretcher. It generates the distinctive look of three dimensionality. How do I hang a canvas on the wall? A canvas print has the advantage of being relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy and straightforward to hang up your Canvas print without the use of any wall-mounts. Hence, canvas prints are suitable for all types of walls.
  • Poster (canvas material): The poster print is a printed flat canvas with a slight finish on the surface, which reminds the original version of the masterpiece. It is particularly suited for framing your fine art print with a customized frame. Please note, that depending on the size of the poster print we add a white margin between 2-6cm round about the artwork to facilitate the framing.
  • Metal print (aluminium dibond): This is a metal print manufactured on alu dibond material with an impressive depth effect - for a modern look and non-reflective surface. A direct Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is the ideal start to fine art replicas on aluminum. For your Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print your favorite artwork on the surface of the white-primed aluminum composite. The colors of the print are bright and luminous, the fine details appear crisp and clear.
