The more than 140 years old original was made with the size of Unframed: 49,5 x 61 cm (19 1/2 x 24 in). Oil on wood was applied by the North American artist as the technique for the artpiece. The original artwork's inscription is: signed lower right: "A. F. Tait. . / N.Y. 1873"; inscribed on the back: " 'Maternal Solicitude' (The Dying Fawn)".
