This painting is had given a sampling of three images, the Empress Caroline Auguste Johann Peter Krafft in order. The series should represent scenes from the life of the emperor. The two other paintings of the cycle show Franz I./II. the holding of a general audience - even to this, the sampling is obtained (Inv 5997) - and in translating a man on the Laxenburger pond. The versions are now privately owned. The series served like the Hofburg cycle to Franz I./II. to stage as a populist ruler. but they differ from this by the Emperor takes an active role here. The artist shows in this painting, as he accompanied the coffin of a poor man. The reproduced in the civil suit ruler compassionate removed his top hat. Krafft gives him his father's traits.
