A number of scholars have questioned the attribution because Griffier did not generally paint on copper and primarily painted hunting scenes. It may be based on a print, although the source has yet to be identified.

This painting was created by the Dutch painter Jan Griffier. The original version measures the size: Framed: 32 x 41 x 4 cm (12 5/8 x 16 1/8 x 1 9/16 in); Unframed: 19,6 x 29 cm (7 11/16 x 11 7/16 in). Oil on copper, mounted on wood was applied by the artist as the technique for the artwork.
