Original information about the work of art from the museum's website (© - The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)

In a departure from the fruits and vegetables Harnett painted at the outset of his career, this tabletop still life represents manufactured objects. The leather-bound volumes, stained ink bottle, and much-used quill pen show “the mellowing effect of age,” which the artist praised in an undated interview. The varied objects reveal Harnett’s skill in rendering different textures. Although the rolled coins and other currency probably determined the title, there is nothing in the work or its history to indicate that it was commissioned by or painted for a particular banker.

In the product dropdown selection you can choose your prefered material and size. Choose your preferred size and material among the following options:

  • Poster (canvas material): Our poster is a printed canvas paper with a fine finish on the surface, that reminds the actual artwork. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the poster print we add a white margin of something between 2-6cm around the work of art, which facilitates the framing.
  • Aluminium dibond print: An Aluminium Dibond print is a print material with an outstanding depth effect, which creates a fashionable impression thanks to a non-reflective surface. The white and bright components of the artwork shine with a silk gloss but without any glow. The colors are luminous, the fine details of the print are crisp and clear, and you can perceive a matte appearance of the surface.
  • Acrylic glass print: An print on acrylic glass, which is often described as a UV print on plexiglass, will convert your selected original artwork into wall décor and offers a good alternative option to aluminium or canvas fine art replicas. The artwork will be made with modern UV direct print machines.
  • The canvas print: A UV printed canvas applied on a wood stretcher frame. The printed canvas creates a lovely and warm atmosphere. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight. This means, it is quite simple to hang the Canvas print without any wall-mounts. A canvas print is suitable for any type of wall.
