The provost of merchants and aldermen sit before a large painting showing a gilded carriage drawn by white horses where does a person of importance welcomed by the municipal body.

This sketch is probably a first idea for the painting "Allegory of engagement of Louis XV with the Infanta of Spain" for the Office of the Council of the City Hall of Paris. The description of the contract signed August 11, 1722 corresponds to another sketch of the Musée Carnavalet (P.1324). If the large painting was made, which is not certain, he was moved in any case, or destroyed, after the broken engagement announced May 17, 1725.
