In 1841 the artist Karl von Blaas created the artpiece The homecoming of Jakob. The 170 year-old masterpiece measures the size 92 x 142 cm - frame: 115,5 × 165 × 9,5 cm. Oil on canvas was applied by the Austrian painter as the technique for the painting. The original artwork was inscribed with the following information: signed, name and dated bottom left: Karl Blaas. Rome 1841. The work of art is in the the digital collection of Belvedere. With courtesy of - © Belvedere, Vienna, inventory number: 2277 (licensed: public domain). The creditline of the artwork is: transfer from the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna in 1922. Furthermore, alignment of the digital reproduction is landscape with an image ratio of 3 : 2, which implies that the length is 50% longer than the width. The mosaicist, painter, autobiographer Karl von Blaas was an artist, whose style can mainly be classified as Historicism. The European painter was born in the year 1815 in Nauders, Tyrol, Austria and deceased at the age of 79 in 1894 in Vienna, Vienna state, Austria.
