Original information about the artwork from the museum (© Copyright - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)
The figure of a wanderer in an untamed natural setting personified restless yearning for the German Romantics. Man’s loneliness and nature’s transience, themes clearly stated in this picture, find direct parallels in the works of the painter Caspar David Friedrich and the composer Franz Schubert, notably his song cycle Die Winterreise, or Winter Journey (1827).

Which kind of art print materials can I choose?
In the dropdown menu right next to the product you can pick your individual size and material. That is why, we allow you to choose among the following options:
- Aluminium dibond (metal print): Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with a true effect of depth - for a modern impression and a non-reflective surface structure. The colors are luminous in the highest definition, the fine details are crisp, and there’s a matte appearance you can literally feel.
- Canvas print: The printed canvas, not to be confused with an artwork painted on a canvas, is a digital image printed from a UV direct printer. A printed canvas produces a cosy, comfortable atmosphere. A canvas of this work of art will provide you with the chance of transforming your very own art print into a large size work of art. The advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight. That means, it is easy and straightforward to hang the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for any kind of wall.
- The poster print (canvas material): Our poster print is a printed canvas paper with a granular finish on the surface. The print poster is suited for placing the art copy with a personal frame. Please note, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin of around 2-6cm around the work of art in order to facilitate the framing with a custom frame.
- Glossy acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): A glossy acrylic glass print, often labelled as a plexiglass print, changes your favorite original work of art into décor and makes a viable alternative to dibond and canvas fine art prints. Your own copy of the work of art is made with the help of modern UV printing machines.
