What is more, the alignment is landscape with a side ratio of 1.4 : 1, which implies that the length is 40% longer than the width. The painter Johann Peter Krafft was a European artist from Austria, whose artistic style was primarily Realism. The Austrian artist lived for 76 years and was born in 1780 in Hanau, Hessen state, Germany and deceased in 1856 in Vienna, Vienna state, Austria.

This painting depicts an episode from the life of the painter. In Ostia could Krafft 1808 fire a cannon shot for fun on a fortress. the incident had Krafft time with pencil sketches (Inv. Nos. 9479a, 9479b). Many years later, he created a spontaneously acting oil paintings. To the left of the artist his friend Jagemann is shown.
