Artwork description by the museum's website (© Copyright - by Nationalmuseum Stockholm - Nationalmuseum Stockholm)
English: In this painting a crowd of beggars and cripples jostles outside a church charity. Bread is handed out through the barred window. There is probably a Christian subtext in it but the poor are not depicted with much sympathy, quarreling and stealing from one another. Deprived drifters were often seen as parasites that threatened the fragile social order and depicting them as foolish and grotesque was traditional in Flemish painting of the sixteenth century.

Select your preferred material
For every fine art print we offer different materials and sizes. In order match your personal requirements perfectly, you can choose among the following product customization options:
- The canvas print: The printed canvas, not to be confused with a canvas painting, is an image printed directly on canvas fabric. It has a unique impression of three dimensionality. A canvas of your favorite artpiece will let you turn your personal art print into a large work of art. Hanging a canvas print: Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy and straightforward to hang up your Canvas print without the help of any wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suited for any kind of wall.
- Acrylic glass print: The acrylic glass print, often labelled as a plexiglass print, will transform your favorite original work of art into great décor. Additionally, it is a great alternative option to canvas or aluminium dibond art prints. The artwork is printed with state-of-the-art UV print technology. This creates rich and sharp color hues. The plexiglass protects your custom fine art print against sunlight and external influences for many years to come.
- Poster print (canvas material): The poster is a UV printed canvas paper with a granular surface finish. Please bear in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin 2-6cm round about the print, which facilitates the framing.
- Aluminium dibond print: This is a metal print manufactured on aluminium dibond material with a true depth - for a modern look and a non-reflective surface. The Aluminium Dibond Print is your ideal introduction to reproductions on aluminum. For the Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print the artwork right on the surface of the aluminum. The colors of the print are luminous and vivid in the highest definition, the fine details of the print are very clear.
