Inscribed: PARIS / TRAM (on paper attached to central tree trunk),1 O.W. / 1536 / PG (or GP) in ligature (on central tree trunk) is the painting's original inscription. The painter, printmaker, tapestry designer Matthias Gerung was a European artist, whose artistic style was mainly Northern Renaissance. The European painter was born in 1525 and died at the age of 25 in 1550.
