Pallière and Alaux were recipients of the Prix de Rome for history painting in 1812 and 1815, respectively. As a young pensionnaire at the Villa Medici, seat of the French Academy in Rome, Alaux painted a group of portraits of fellow laureates in their private rooms. Both the intimacy of the scene and its subject—an artist in his studio—capture the emerging Romantic sensibility.

Choose your desired product material

For every art print we offer a range of different sizes and materials. We allow yout to choose among the following variants:

  • Poster print (canvas material): A poster print is a printed canvas with a granular structure on the surface, which resembles the original masterpiece. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of around 2-6cm around the work of art, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Aluminium dibond print (metal): Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with a true depth effect. A direct Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is your best introduction to art prints manufactured on aluminum. The white & bright components of the original artwork shimmer with a silk gloss, however without any glow.
  • The acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): An print on acrylic glass, which is sometimes referenced as a UV print on plexiglass, changes the original artwork into wonderful décor. Besides, the acrylic art print forms a great alternative option to dibond and canvas prints. The major upside of an acrylic glass art print is that sharp contrasts and also details become more identifiable thanks to the very fine tonal gradation.
  • Canvas print: The UV printed canvas stretched on a wooden stretcher frame. It has the unique impression of three dimensionality. Your canvas of your favorite artpiece will let you turn your own fine art print into a large collection piece like you would see in a gallery. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy to hang the Canvas print without the use of any wall-mounts. Therefore, a canvas print is suitable for any kind of wall in your house.
