Pompeo Marchesi (1783-1858) studied in Milan at Giuseppe Franchi and then from 1804-1809 in Rome at Antionie Canova. In 1810 he settled in Milan and was from 1826 to 1852 director of the Brera Academy. For Marchesis work a certain academic stiffness characteristic. In Austria, he created the monuments to Emperor Franz I in Graz (1841) and Vienna (1846). In addition, the statue of Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy emerged from his hand (1835, Cappella Reale in the Cathedral of Turin) and the sculptural features of the Milan cathedral, particularly the statues on the main facade. The painter Friedrich von Amerling was a European artist from Austria, whose artistic style can be attributed mainly to Biedermeier. The painter lived for 84 years, born in the year 1803 in Vienna, Vienna state, Austria and passed away in 1887.
