Artwork information by The Metropolitan Museum of Art website (© - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)

This portrait of the Rotterdam merchant Paulus Verschuur, with one arm akimbo and a voluminous cloak wrapped around his midsection, displays all the swagger that made Hals a sought-after and influential portraitist. The artist’s signature rough brushwork, visible for example in the lace and glove, fell out of fashion in his own lifetime, but eventually exerted a great influence on Impressionist artists of the nineteenth century.

Product materials our customers can choose from

For every product we offer a range of different sizes & materials. The following options are available for individualization:

  • Print on acrylic glass: A glossy acrylic glass print, often labelled as a plexiglass print, will change the original artwork into gorgeous wall décor. Additionally, it offers a good alternative to dibond and canvas art prints. The artwork is being custom-made with the help of state-of-the-art UV print technology.
  • Aluminium dibond print (metal): Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with a true depth. The bright sections of the artpiece shine with a silky gloss but without any glow. The colors of the print are luminous and vivid in the highest definition, the fine details of the print are crisp, and the print has a a matte appearance that you can literally feel.
  • Poster print on canvas material: Our poster print is a UV printed canvas with a slightly rough surface texture. Please bear in mind, that depending on the size of the poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm round about the painting in order to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
  • Canvas print: A canvas print, not to be confused with a real painting on a canvas, is a digital copy printed from a UV direct printing machine. Your canvas of your favorite artpiece will let you turn your personal fine art print into a large artwork. The advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy to hang up your Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. A canvas print is suitable for any type of wall.
