Gérôme painted six slave-market scenes set in either ancient Rome or 19th-century Istanbul. The subject provided him with an opportunity to depict facial expressions and to undertake figurative studies of sensual beauty. He painted another view of the same event--"Slave Market in Rome" (St. Petersburg, Hermitage Museum)--in which the viewer looks over the heads of the spectators towards the slave.

Choose your product material

The product dropdown menu provides you with the possibility to choose the size and material of your choice. We allow you to pick your favorite size and material among the following product individualization options:

  • Canvas print: The canvas direct print is a printed cotton canvas stretched on a wood stretcher. A canvas print has the advantage of being low in weight, meaning that it is easy and straightforward to hang the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. A canvas print is suited for all kinds of walls.
  • Metal print (aluminium dibond): These are metal prints on aluminium dibond material with an outstanding depth effect, which creates a contemporary look with a non-reflective surface. A direct Aluminium Dibond Print is your ideal introduction to art prints on aluminum. The bright and white parts of the original artpiece shine with a silk gloss but without any glow. The colors of the print are vivid and luminous, the fine details of the print appear crisp. The UV print on Aluminum Dibond is the most popular entry-level product and is a truly sophisticated way to display fine art prints, since it draws focus on the replica of the artwork.
  • Acrylic glass print: An acrylic glass print, which is often denoted as a fine art print on plexiglass, makes the original work of art into beautiful home decoration. Besides, the acrylic print forms a good alternative option to canvas and dibond fine art prints. The major advantage of a plexiglass fine art copy is that contrasts and painting details become visible thanks to the granular gradation in the picture.
  • Poster print (canvas material): A poster is a printed flat canvas paper with a nice structure on the surface. Please note, that depending on the size of the poster print we add a white margin of around 2 - 6cm round about the print, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.

Important information: We try to describe our art products as accurate as possible and to display them visually. Nonetheless, some pigments of the print materials and the imprint can diverge slightly from the representation on the device's monitor. Depending on the screen settings and the quality of the surface, color pigments can unfortunately not be printed one hundret percent realistically. Because all are printed and processed manually, there may also be slight deviations in the motif's size and exact position.
