Madeleine Lemaire, painter of popular flowers, was a popular salon as well as by artists from the aristocracy. The unfinished painting by Gervex shows one of his famous musical evenings of Tuesday; the singer would be the Countess of Maupeou, accompanied on piano by Reynaldo Hahn.
