In 1865 Gustave Courbet made the work of art. The version of the artwork measures the size: framed: 109,22 x 98,43 x 6,35 cm (43 x 38 3/4 x 2 1/2 in) unframed: 91,4 x 81,3 cm (36 x 32 in). Oil on canvas was applied by the French artist as the technique for the piece of art. The artpiece is included in the Yale University Art Gallery's digital art collection. This work of art, which is in the public domain is being included with courtesy of Yale University Art Gallery. The creditline of the artwork is: Gift of Walter Bareiss, 1940. Furthermore, alignment is in portrait format and has a ratio of 1 : 1.2, meaning that the length is 20% shorter than the width. The painter, sculptor, communard Gustave Courbet was a European artist, whose artistic style can be classified as Realism. The European painter was born in the year 1819 in Ornans, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France and died at the age of 58 in 1877 in La Tour-de-Peilz, Vaud, Switzerland.
