While travelling in Italy Købke achieved a much greater degree of painterly freedom in his studies than before, particularly in his painted studies from Capri.

These images have a sketch-like quality not found in other Danish painters. Købke’s new style of painting had a knock-on effect on the studies done near his home on Blegdammen after his return from Italy.

Motif and angle In the painting of the garden steps he evinces an unheard-of boldness in his choice of motif and angle – and in his cropping of the scene. We barely get an impression of the house; the gnarly tree by the steps is the key element of the painting together with the beautifully observed sunlight hitting the façade and tree, falling in through a window and upon the open door. The painting has no parallel in Danish art of the period.

Available product materials

For every fine art print we offer a range of different sizes & materials. Choose among the following product options now to match your preferences in size and material:

  • Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): The print on acrylic glass, which is often described as a print on plexiglass, will change your selected artwork into décor. Your favorite artwork will be manufactured with modern UV print technology. This has the effect of impressive, vivid colors. The major upside of an acrylic glass art print is that contrasts plus details become identifiable due to the very subtle tonal gradation of the picture. The acrylic glass protects your custom art replica against light and heat for decades.
  • Aluminium dibond: Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an impressive effect of depth - for a modern look and a non-reflective surface structure. For the Direct Aluminium Dibond option, we print your favorite work of art onto the surface of the white-primed aluminum material. The white & bright parts of the artpiece shine with a silk gloss, however without the glow.
  • The canvas print: The canvas print is a printed canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy and straightforward to hang up your Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. A canvas print is suitable for any type of wall.
  • Poster print on canvas material: The Artprinta poster is a printed sheet of canvas paper with a granular structure on the surface. The printed poster is excellently designed for framing the fine art print with the help of a custom-made frame. Please note, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin 2-6cm round about the print motif, which facilitates the framing with a custom frame.

Legal note: We try our best to describe our products in as much detail as possible and to illustrate them visually. Nonetheless, some tone of the printing material and the printing might differ marginally from the presentation on the monitor. Depending on your screen settings and the nature of the surface, color pigments may not be printed as exactly as the digital version on this website. Because all art reproductions are printed and processed by hand, there might also be minor deviations in the motif's size and exact position.
