Artwork description as provided by the museum (© - The Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum of Art)

This panel once formed the left wing of an altarpiece dedicated to Saint John the Baptist that was commissioned by abbot Jacques Coëne for the Benedictine Abbey Church in Marchiennes, near Tournai. It depicts Saint Elizabeth in bed, shortly after giving birth to the newborn saint. Zacharias appears at the entrance to her room, carrying a scroll which declares his son’s name will be John. The pendant (in a private collection) shows the moment after the Baptist’s death, when Salome receives his head on a platter. The centerpiece of the triptych, likely a sculpture of the Baptism of Christ, has not survived.

Select your product material

We offer a range of various sizes and materials for every product. Thus, we allow you to choose among the following options:

  • Printed poster on canvas material: The poster print is a UV printed sheet of flat canvas paper with a fine surface structure, that reminds the actual version of the work of art. A poster print is optimally suited for framing the art print with a personal frame. Please bear in mind, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin of something between 2-6cm round about the print motif, which facilitates the framing with a custom frame.
  • Canvas print: The printed canvas stretched on a wooden stretcher frame. A canvas print creates a attractive, warm feeling. A canvas print has the advantage of being low in weight, which means that it is quite simple to hang your Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for all kinds of walls.
  • Metal (aluminium dibond print): An Aluminium Dibond print is a print material with an outstanding depth. For your Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print your selected artpiece onto the aluminium white-primed surface.
  • Print on acrylic glass (with real glass coating): An acrylic glass print, which is sometimes referenced as a UV print on plexiglass, transforms the artwork into marvellous décor. Further, it forms a distinct alternative to canvas or aluminium dibond fine art prints. Our acrylic glass protects your custom fine art print against light and heat for between 40-60 years.
