An important wedding procession moves along a path from the village center to the right of the table, until a figurative church on the left. The engaged couple, recognizable by their crown, are each preceded by a piper and followed by two groups, men and women separated. This kind of scene, inserted in a vast landscape, reflects the celebration of weddings practice in Flanders in the seventeenth century costumes and landscaped elements allow to locate geographically and chronologically action. Working in workshop, each painter Brueghel family provided his version of "Wedding Procession", sometimes several times as the subject was popular, starting from a lost original by Pieter Brueghel the Elder.
We can track down this "wedding procession" for 1725-1775 years, where he is in the collection of the family Ignaz Grinsner Urinvic. At an unknown date, he joined the family Renz Wiesrade Munich. Then we find when selling Helbings (Munich) in December 1917, and during the sale Chillingworth (Galleries Fischer, Lucerne) September 5, 1922. It is perhaps at this time that Charles Vincent Ocampo the acquired. Table joined the Petit Palais museum following the Ocampo donation of 1930, subject to usufruct until 1942.
