Original description from the museum (© - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum of Art)
This is one of five pictures of olive orchards that Van Gogh made in November 1889. Painted directly from nature but animated by Seurat-like stippling and stylized passages of broken color, these works responded to recent compositions by Paul Gauguin and Émile Bernard. "What I’ve done is a rather harsh and coarse realism beside their abstractions," Van Gogh observed, "but it will nevertheless impart a rustic note, and will smell of the soil."

Selectable materials
For every art print we offer different sizes & materials. The following sizes and materials are the options we offer you for individualization:
- Aluminium dibond (metal print): Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an outstanding depth. The Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is the ideal start to fine art prints produced with aluminum. The bright and white parts of the original artpiece shine with a silk gloss but without the glow. The print on Aluminum Dibond is the most popular entry-level product and is a stylish way to showcase art reproductions, because it puts the viewer’s focus on the whole artwork.
- Canvas print: A canvas print, not to be confused with an artwork painted on a canvas, is a digital image printed on a UV direct printing machine. It makes the unique impression of three-dimensionality. Furthermore, a printed canvas produces a familiar and appealing atmosphere. Canvas Prints have the advantage of being low in weight, meaning that it is easy and straightforward to hang up the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Hence, canvas prints are suitable for all kinds of walls.
- Acrylic glass print: A glossy acrylic glass print, which is sometimes described as a UV print on plexiglass, will transform your favorite original work of art into marvellous décor and makes a great alternative to dibond or canvas art prints. The work of art is being manufactured with the help of state-of-the-art UV print machines. It creates vivid, stunning colors. The great benefit of a plexiglass art print is that contrasts and also artwork details will be more exposed thanks to the very fine gradation.
- Printed poster (canvas material): The Artprinta poster is a printed flat canvas with a slight surface structure, which reminds the actual work of art. It is best suited for placing the art copy using a special frame. Please bear in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin of something between 2 - 6cm round about the artwork, which facilitates the framing with a custom frame.
