Calabazas, a jester in the court of King Philip IV of Spain, had physical and mental disabilities, a state that the artist emphasizes, rather than tries to hide. While the Spanish court prized and doted upon people with disabilities such as Calabazas, Velázquez transformed their depiction in portraiture. This startling work uses the format of the formal, full-length court portrait to present a type of person who was generally perceived as marginal at this point in history and profoundly humanizes him.

Select the material you would like to have
For every fine art print we offer different materials and sizes. The following sizes and materials are the options we offer you for individualization:
- Canvas print: A canvas direct print is a printed canvas stretched on a wood stretcher. It creates the special effect of three dimensionality. Your canvas print of your favorite work of art will let you turn your into a large size collection piece like you would see in a gallery. A canvas print has the advantage of being relatively low in weight, which implies that it is easy and straightforward to hang up the Canvas print without the help of any wall-mounts. Therefore, a canvas print is suited for any type of wall.
- Metal (aluminium dibond print): Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with an outstanding effect of depth. The Aluminium Dibond Print is the best introduction to art prints with aluminum. This direct UV print on Aluminum Dibond is the most popular entry-level product and is a sophisticated way to showcase art reproductions, since it draws focus on the replica of the artwork.
- The poster print on canvas material: The poster is a printed canvas with a nice structure on the surface. The poster is particularly suited for framing the fine art print with the help of a customized frame. Please bear in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin of around 2-6cm around the artwork, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
- Acrylic glass print: The acrylic glass print, often labelled as a plexiglass print, transforms the original into marvellous décor and makes a distinct alternative option to canvas or dibond prints. Your own copy of the artwork will be made thanks to state-of-the-art UV print machines. This has the impression of intense, sharp color tones. With an acrylic glass art print contrasts and granular color details become visible because of the very subtle tonal gradation. Our plexiglass with real glass coating protects your selected art print against light and external influences for many years.
