The artwork was created by Cornelis Troost in 1738. The over 280 years old original was painted with the size: height: 55,5 cm width: 72,5 cm | height: 21,9 in width: 28,5 in. Pastel, gouache on paper was applied by the European artist as the medium of the painting. "Signed and dated: C. Troost / 1738" was the painting's original inscription. Nowadays, this work of art can be viewed in in the Mauritshuis's digital art collection, which the Mauritshuis is home to the best artworks of Dutch painting of the seventeenth century. Besides, the work of art has the following creditline: Jan Isaak de Neufville Brants (1768-1807), Amsterdam; his son, Jan Isaak de Neufville Brants (1800-1828); his sale, Amsterdam, 28 March 1829 (Lugt 11974), no. 8 (for 100 guilders [together with inv. no. 192] to Jeronimo de Vries for the Mauritshuis, together with inv. nos. 179-182, 183, 185, 191-193); purchased, 1829; on long-term loan to the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles (inv. no. L.2002.63.1), since 2002. Besides, the alignment of the digital reproduction is in landscape format and has a side ratio of 4 : 3, meaning that the length is 33% longer than the width. The actor, painter Cornelis Troost was a European artist from the Netherlands, whose art style can mainly be assigned to Baroque. The Dutch painter lived for a total of 54 years and was born in the year 1696 and died in 1750.
