This more than 140 year-old painting titled "Portrait of Alphonse Maureau" was made by Édouard Manet in 1879. The painting was painted with the size: 547 × 452 mm and was painted with the techinque of pastel on canvas. Inscribed lower right: "E.M." is the artpiece's original inscription. The artpiece forms part of the collection of Art Institute Chicago, which is one of the world’s great art museums, housing a collection that spans centuries and the globe. What is more, the alignment is in portrait format with a ratio of 1 : 1.2, which means that the length is 20% shorter than the width. The painter Édouard Manet was an artist from France, whose artistic style can be classified as Realism. The Realist painter lived for 51 years and was born in the year 1832 and deceased in the year 1883.
